An introduction to Traditional Vietnamese Music

With this special event around Vietnamese Traditional Music, Salon Saigon is pleased to introduce the Dân Tộc Việt band. Its 4 musicians will not only perform folk melodies but will also bring an in-depth knowledge about Vietnamese musical instruments and the stories behind them.

Venue: Salon Saigon, 6D Ngo Thoi Nhiem, ward 7, district 3, Ho Chi Minh city

Ticket price:

  • At the door: 500.000 VND
  • Ticket for student and members: 250.000 VND

This evening will include the presentation of the Độc Huyền Cầm, also known as Mono-chord, the 16-chord zither, the traditional drum, the Sáo trúc bamboo flute, and other small instruments.

You will also learn about Nha Nhac - the music performed at the Vietnamese Royal Court in Hue from the 15th to the mid-20th century. Nha Nhac Music is on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Then the musicians will make you feel the difference between the repertoires representing the three regions of North, Central, and South. And to conclude, they will show you how this art can be adapted to a more modern style.

In addition to this experience, you will also have the opportunity to participate in playing a few samples of folk songs.
