Weaving Dó, Weaving the Four Seasons
Inspired by Dó paper - a traditional Vietnamese material - the contemporary ballet Dó is created as a journey exploring the flowing transformations of nature and human life. At times gentle and profound, at times powerful and vibrant, yet always familiar and intimate - the four seasons do not only move through nature, but also within each of us.
Unlike traditional ballets that retell well-known stories, Dó chooses its own way of storytelling. Ballet—an academic art form of the West—becomes the structure that supports Vietnamese cultural elements. On stage, familiar images such as fish traps, woven mats, and the puppet character Chú Tễu are brought to life like living memories, thoughtfully placed within the language of contemporary art.
Dó there
Dó here
Dó carries heritage, rising in a new form
Under the direction of Huong Na Tran, with choreography by Meritorious Artist Phan Luong and Vu Ngoc Khai, Dó is not only a performance to watch—it is a unique cultural and emotional experience, where tradition does not stand still, but moves forward like a gentle breeze.
Dó is to feel. Dó is to remember.
If you are looking for an encounter that is both elegant and intimate, Dó is a meeting you should not miss.
DÓ SHOW – Dó here, Dó there, heritage rising in a new form.

DÓ SHOW offers a fresh approach to traditional Vietnamese cultural elements. Rather than presenting heritage through conventional storytelling, the performance uses expressive movement and theatrical staging to evoke familiar images, memories, and emotions that resonate with Vietnamese audiences.
It also provides an accessible introduction to contemporary ballet through recognizable cultural symbols, making it an appealing experience even for those who are new to this art form.
Nature and the cyclical rhythm of the four seasons serve as recurring sources of inspiration throughout the performance. Transitions from gentle, contemplative moments to powerful, dynamic movements evoke the rhythms of everyday life and the journey of personal growth.
Rather than simply following a story with a clearly defined beginning and ending, audiences are invited to interpret the performance in their own way through its movements, imagery, and emotions.
DÓ SHOW is an appealing choice for performing arts enthusiasts, couples seeking a distinctive date-night experience, friends who enjoy cultural activities, and visitors looking to discover quality artistic performances in Hanoi.
For international travelers and anyone interested in experiencing Vietnamese culture through a creative lens, the show may also offer a memorable cultural experience.
