Nhận thức sự phát triển của nhạc điện tử, đặc biệt là việc biểu diễn trực tiếp, Viện Goethe Hà Nội và Hanoi Rock City mong muốn tạo một diễn đàn để thảo luận về hành trình chuyển từ việc chơi turntable đến biểu diễn trực tiếp cho các nghệ sĩ nhạc điện tử. Buổi workshop này nằm trong nỗ lực để khuyến khích những đối thoại về nhạc điện tử giữa Việt Nam và Đức.

Trong những năm gần đây, khi việc tiếp cận các nhạc cụ nói chung và thiết bị âm nhạc điển tử nói riêng trở nên dễ dàng hơn, việc trình diễn DJ cũng ngày càng trở nên phổ biến. Tuy nhiên, có rất nhiều những nghệ sĩ đang dần dần chuyển từ việc chơi DJ sang biểu diễn hybrid – một hình thức đòi hỏi kết hợp việc biểu diễn trực tiếp với các kĩ thuật của DJ, và qua đó, khám phá những tiềm năng khác của nhạc điện tử, cũng như các sáng tạo nghệ sĩ của riêng mình.
Workshop “Nghệ thuật DJ và biểu diễn trực tiếp với các nhạc cụ điện tử” vì vậy sẽ tập trung vào quá trình phát triển đó. Workshop sẽ được dẫn dắt bởi nhà sản xuất âm nhạc từ Berlin Bertolt Meyer và Dee.F – nhà sản xuất âm nhạc và đồng sáng lập của Hanoi Rock City. Cả hai sẽ đưa ra những cái nhìn đối chiếu về khung cảnh nhạc điện tử của Đức và Việt Nam, cũng như đưa ra những trao đổi về việc phát triển từ việc chơi DJ với turntables, đến biểu diễn trực tiếp với đa dạng các nhạc cụ điện tử.

Thông tin người hướng dẫn:

Bertolt Meyer là nhà sản xuất âm nhạc và DJ nhạc techno và house. Anh phát hành các sản phẩm của mình qua hãng đĩa DESSERT và hiện đang là nghệ sĩ lưu trú và trình diễn tại //about:blank club ở Berli. Bertolt đã từng biểu diễn ở nhiều club và festival âm nhạc ở Đức và Châu u. Một trong những Trình diễn của Bertolt thường sử dụng đàn synthesizer.

Bertolt nổi tiếng trong cộng đồng nhạc điện tử vì anh sử dụng một công nghệ đặc biệt có thể giúp kết nối tay máy của anh với đàn synthsizer để chơi nhạc. Trong workshop về chơi nhạc live, anh kết hợp những kiến thức về âm nhạc với phương pháp giáo dục và trình bày từ công việc ban ngày của anh – giáo sư tâm lý học. Năm 2024, anh nhận giải Giáo sư của năm tại Đức.

Dee.F là nghệ sĩ nhạc điện tử tiên phong, đồng thời là đồng sáng lập của không gian Hanoi Rock City.

WORKSHOP - From the original turntables to a hybrid live performance setup

Acknowledging the recent developments in electronic music live performances and DJ sets, the Goethe-Institut Hanoi and Hanoi Rock City have established a platform for discussing the transition from traditional turntables to a captivating hybrid live performance setup. This initiative aims to foster dialogue between the electronic music scenes in Vietnam and Germany.

As music equipment becomes more accessible, DJ performances—centered around mixing pre-recorded tracks—have gained popularity. However, an increasing number of musicians are now embracing hybrid performances. These combine live elements with DJ techniques, offering flexibility, economic advantages, a broader audience reach, and an expansive canvas for artistic exploration.

In this workshop, led by Berlin-based DJ, producer, and bionic musician Bertolt Meyer, alongside electronic music pioneer and founder of Hanoi Rock City Dee.F, participants will gain insights into the current electronic music landscapes of Berlin and Vietnam. It will also provide practical advice for both beginners and experienced users as they transition from traditional turntables to a dynamic hybrid live performance setup

Biography of the expert:

Bertolt Meyer is a Berlin-based producer and DJ in the genres melodic techno and house. He releases on the DESSERT record label and is a resident at the DESSERT party at the about:blank club in Berlin. He has played at multiple clubs and festivals across Germany and Europe. For his music productions and live performances, he uses Eurorack modular synthesizers. He has received considerable attention in the synth community for building a hardware hack that allows him to connect his bionic arm prosthesis directly to his synthesizers for musical control. In this workshop on live with hardware and synths, he combines his musical expertise with his teaching and presentation skills from his daytime job as a university professor, who recently received the German University Professor of the Year 2024 award.

Dee.F is a true pioneer of electronic music in Vietnam, with a legacy spanning over a decade. From co-founding Hanoi Rock City to spearheading techno and electronic community, Dee.F's influence on the underground music scene is unparalleled.
