With more than 20 traditional music instruments combining greatly sophisticatedly, in 45 minutes duration length, The Heritage Show is the story of the daily life of Vietnamese people in the Northern Delta countryside.
Our talented artists will bring you back to decade 90s to render magnificent memory of ancient Vietnam. The local touch of vibrant activities such as farming, fishing, gathering are condensed with graceful traditional music and dancing throughout an exotic live performance.
Music instruments which are typical bamboo made such as Monochord (“Đàn Bầu”), 2-String Zither (“Đàn Nhị’), Plucked Lute (“Đàn Đáy”), 16-String Zither (“Đàn Thập Lục”), 36-String Zither (“Đàn Tam Thập Lục”), Flute, Drum and some other folk instruments of Vietnam. By joining in this show, the audience’ll have chance to really enjoy a soundtrack that blends traditional musical styles with contemporary elements featuring by intangible cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO including “Ca Tru” and “Quan Ho”.

PRESENTATION ABOUT THIS SHOW
DAWN (By Bamboo Flute Artist Nguyen Tran Hau)
The performance is about bamboo flute as the main instrument, combining with the 36-String Zither (“Dan Tam Thap Luc”), 16-String Zither (“Dan Thap Luc”), Wooden Bell (“Mo Trau”), Folk Percussion Instrument (“Cap Ke”) and other folk musical instruments. The combination of these instruments creates the sound effects similar to sound of birds and insects in early morning.
HARVEST SEASON (By Young and talented “Dan Tranh’ Artist Nguyen Khanh)
“Đan Tranh” (a plucked zither of Vietnam) also known as “Thap Luc” (16-String Zither) is used in Harvest Season. One of the songs in this performance, “Stories of the Day” played by “Thap Luc” and “Đan Nhi” instruments, is particularly emotional for all viewers.
WOMEN IN THE MOONLIGHT (By “Dan Day” Artist Nguyen Thanh Hung & Dancer artist Nguyen Thi Nhung)
It is the performance of Ca Tru Singing -recognized by the UNESCO as intangible
cultural heritages of humanity; including of Dan Day, Trong Chau. There is an innovation in the show this year by using the sound of the bamboo flute. In the dim
light, the girl dancing under the moon. This empress the inner tension torn to
break away from the wall of woman’s role in feudal society.
SUMMER NOON (By People’s Artist Thanh Hoai and “Dan Bau” Artist Phuong Thanh
The lullaby of grandmother and mother brings every Vietnamese back to childhood. Played by “Dan bau” (monochord), the lullaby evokes strong motherhood memories
of viewers.
MANUAL LABOR (By Main Artist Bach Quoc Khanh and colleagues)
After a hard day working, boys and girls in the village go together to the courtyard to sing Giao Duyen singing (style of singing where a boy and girl sing traditional love
songs to express their love for each other). The show uses antique singing styles and was developed in combination with the method of tapping bamboo (a feature of
the Xoan singing of Phu Tho Province) into melody and rhythm to integrate between
the boys and girls.
COUNTRYSIDE MARKET (By “Dan Nhi” Artist Nguyen Xuan Hai)
Combination of “Dan Nhi” (2-string zither) and objects such as pots, barrels, chopsticks, clogs, brooms, Cap ke, Trong Manh are used to simulate sound of a
vibrant morning market in the countryside.
TRADITIONAL HANDICRAFT VILLAGE (By Artist Nguyen Tuan and Artist Pham Dinh Dung)
A fun performance with high interaction with the audience, using the instrument De
Drum (including 5 drums). The audience will be amazed by the two talented artists Tuan Anh and Pham Dinh Dung.

SHOW CONCEPT
The Heritage Show is the first show in Vietnam to use more than 20 folk music instruments such as Monochord, 2-String Zither, Plucked Lute, Plucked Zither, Drum, Flute… etc combing with intangible cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO are “Ca Tru” and “Quan Ho” to illustrate the simplicity of local daily life of Vietnamese people in the decade 90s.
The organizers want to send the messages to international passengers about new fresh experience of vivid cultural activities in a day in a typical Vietnamese village in the Northern Delta. They create a strong foundation that is a savvy blend of art performance and lightings, unique folk music instruments, comtemporary dancings movements performing by celebrated artists.
