LIGHT & LIFE - A Multimedia Exhibition of Alexandre Dang

Alexandre Dang’s works offer poetry to the public and invites to discover new perceptions linked with topics like energy, movement, environment…

His kinetic installations with "Dancing Solar Flowers" invite the public to rethink about ways to perceive not only the environment we inhabit in, but also and especially our role and relationship with Nature. Each “Dancing Solar Flower” contains a motor which works thanks to a photovoltaic cell. The cell converts light into electricity that powers the motor and enables the flowers to move constantly, as long as light is provided. With those installations, he invites the viewer to appreciate the beauty of geometrical patterns, bringing a new level of significance to the idea of landscape itself. Alexandre Dang with the flowers creates a dimension that is poetic, fun and playful at the same time by breathing life into them using renewable sources of energy.

Recently, Alexandre Dang developed new solar artworks called "solar paintings" and "solar drawings". He creates these works by means of solar machines that he has designed. When the surrounding light is sufficient, the machine starts moving and draws different shapes. In the context of a world where non-renewable energies are reaching their limits, the solar drawings and solar paintings highlight in a poetic way the potential of solar energy and the need to move towards sustainable development.

The artist also developed participatory pieces, allowing the public to express their artistic side. The participatory pieces are a blank canvas on which has been drawn a stalk. The public can give life to the stalk by drawing their own flower on it. Over time, the drawing will grow more and more shaping a lush and colourful garden. The pieces symbolize the life and nature energy.

The exhibition and extra activities are organized by Heritage Space and received the much appreciated generous sponsorship from the TID group and Dolphin Plaza.
